In India, Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi introduced the Redmi 8, the slightly boosted version of the Redmi 8A.

It now has a bigger RAM and storage option and more cameras. In particular, it has up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage.

The cameras are upgraded as well. It is now using a 12MP f/1.8 Sony IMX363 Dual PD sensor instead of f/1.9. It is aided by a 2MP f/2/4. depth camera for bokeh effects.
Redmi also claims that it comes with AI scene detection for 33 different scenes.
For selfies, there's an 8MP f/2.0 shooter with AI portrait and AI face unlock.
Inside, it has 2.0GHz 64-bit Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor, 5,000mAh battery with USB-C 18W fast charging tech, fingerprint scanner, 4G LTE, and dual SIM slots.
Price and availability
The new Redmi 8 will be available on October 12 at Flipkart India.
