PCC (Philippine Competition Commission) has just ordered Grab to refund around PHP 5 million to its customers between February and May this year. Why? The ride-hailing app "overcharged" its customers and other violations.

About PHP 5 million will be back to Grab customers

Based on the report of CNN Philippines, PCC has issued the order to Grab last November 14. PCC gave Grab up to 60 days to refund its customers.

To recall, the price of Grab rides are based on demand. On peak hours, the Grab rides are more expensive.

In total, PCC said that it has fined a total of PHP 23M to Grab. Back in January, Grab was fined 6.5M for submitting insufficient data on fare monitoring. There's a PHP 16M penalty on the Grab and Uber merger back in October 2018 for "violating key provisions" of the merger review.

The explanation regarding the overcharging hasn't been disclosed yet.

On the other hand, earlier this year, Grab has introduced "Look for other passengers" feature for cheaper GrabShare rides.

What do you guys think? Have you experienced the above-mentioned overcharging by Grab?
