Reno 3 Pro daylight 5x |
Reno 3 Pro daylight ultra-wide |
OPPO has focused its efforts on the Reno 3 Pro and it shows. The daylight images from the Reno 3 Pro's quad-rear cameras offer some of the most color-accurate images for its price point.
The images are sharp with plenty of detail. The contrast is good while colors just look good and accurate. What surprised us is that the sharpness and detail even with the hybrid optical and digital zoom at 5x.
Reno 3 Pro indoor 1x |
Reno 3 Pro indoor 2x |
Reno 3 Pro indoor 5x |
Reno 3 Pro indoor ultra-wide |
In indoor situations, the OPPO Reno 3 Pro's 1x and 2x zoom cameras are able to retain the accurate colors and sharp detail with almost no additional noise.
The ultra-wide camera and the 5x zoom produced slightly softer images with some noise build-up but it still remains sharp with plenty of detail. The colors from all four cameras are again some of the most color-accurate we've seen.
Good job, OPPO.
Reno 3 Pro dim 1x |
Reno 3 Pro dim 2x |
Reno 3 Pro dim 5x |
Reno 3 Pro dim ultra-wide |
In low light, the Reno 3 Pro's images from all three cameras lose the detail and sharpness and have this unnatural strong contrast.
The colors are not as accurate as of the daylight and the indoor shots. This is most apparent with the 2x and 5x zoom with its purple color cast. Noise has also begun to be more apparent in the image. Overall, the image is good but when compared to the daylight and indoor, the difference can be seen.
The 5x zoom took the most hit with the aggressive over-sharpening and purple color cast.
In the stock camera app, it includes modes like Selfie Photo, Video, Night, Portrait, Sticker, Time-Lapse, and Pano. It is one of the more robust selfie modes.
Selfie camera UI |
Portrait mode allows for controls for Bokeh, Face smoothening, Thinner Face, Bigger Eyes, Smaller Nose, Chin, Smaller Face, Touch Up, and 3D. All of these have intensity controls from 0-100.
Video capabilities include recording 1080p at 30 fps with selfie slow motion in 1080p and 720p.

Reno 3 Pro indoor selfie |
In daylight and indoors, the Reno 3 Pro's selfie camera produces sharp images with a decent amount of detail. The colors are super accurate while the contrast is good. The portrait mode has decent skin smoothening up to level three while the artificial bokeh's edge detection is good with only a few hair fibers that weren't detected properly.
Reno 3 Pro low light selfie |
The low light selfie needs some work. The image is soft with less detail while the skin tones are totally off. The image has significantly more noise.
Reno 3 Pro low light selfie Night mode |
The Reno 3 Pro's Selfie Night mode saves it. A significant amount of detail and sharpness have been recovered while the color skin tone is closer to the real ones when compared to the low light selfie on auto.
For videos, the back cameras shoot up to 4K 30fps videos. Image stabilization (EIS) is available using the 4K and 1080p at 30fps.
Stabilization is not available at 1080p 60fps. In front, the selfie cam shoots up to 1080p 30fps w/o stabilization. The crop is small though and it has up 720p slow-mo selfies.
