Meet realme 6 Pro

Based on its key specs and plethora of features for the expected price, this handset could excite those who are in need of a highly capable mid-range smartphone for less.

Why? While realme PH hasn't made its price known yet, they hinted that it will be very affordable for what it is.

To those who missed it, the realme 6 Pro is a premium-looking mid-ranger with a sophisticated glass back design, 6.6-inch FHD+ big display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and pill-shaped punch-hole, 8nm Snapdragon 720G SoC, 4,300mAh battery with USB-C 30W fast charging, 64MP quad-cam with up to 20x Hybrid Zoom, 16MP + 8MP selfie dual-camera, and many more.

Anyway, here's our first look at the realme 6 Pro. Read on.

Unboxing/Accessories

Unboxed!
Unboxed!

Realme is consistent with their yellow packaging and there's nothing wrong with that.

Build Quality/Design

Unlike its other mid-rangers, the realme 6 Pro is made out of premium materials. The 3D curved glass back is real glass, not glasstic. Moreover, realme added an extra layer of protection (Gorilla Glass 5) to prevent unwanted hairline scratches and damages from accidental light drops.

The frame is metallic with nice curves and no sharp edges. The front 2.5D curved 20:9 6.6-inch display is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 protection as well.

True premium-looking realme mid-ranger!

This device also has some sort of resistance from water splashes. Realme said it has 3 waterproof layers: glue dispensing, silicone gel, and a waterproof ring.
Unique finish

The unit we got is the Lightning Blue version, but it is also available in Lightning Orange. The back panel uses the "Real Design" inspired by lighting. The company claimed that it used the UV-curing Gradient Offset Printing Technology to make its lightning pattern design with different layers and a comfortable to hold texture possible.

The cool thing about this finish is it changes shades depending on how you hold it. My only gripe is it is prone to fingerprint smudges like most glass back designs.

At the back, you'll also see the protruding 64MP + 8MP ultra-wide + 12MP zoom + 2MP macro quad-camera configuration. Beside the vertically-aligned camera setup is the single LED flash.

This camera setup comes with 20x Hybrid Zoom, Super Nightscape 3.0 with up to 50s Tripods Mode and Ultra Nightscape Mode, and UIS and UIS Max Video Stabilization.

From the front, you'll immediately notice why realme is proud of its screen. While it is not using an AMOLED panel, the 6.6-inch LCD (IPS) display it is using is very impressive. It simply makes the animation appear smoother.

First, it has an extra-smooth 90Hz refresh rate. Second, the screen quality is bright and rich in colors. Third, it comes with a pill-shaped punch-hole design to house its selfie dual-cam.

Impressively, realme managed to squeeze a 16MP f/2.0 Sony IMX471 + 8MP f/2.2 105-degree ultra-wide-angle dual-cam with selfie Night mode in that small hole.

Third, realme claimed that this 16.6cm display has 90.6 percent of screen-to-body ratio. The top and side bezels are really slim. The bottom bezel is still a bit thick, but not as thick as the realme 6i anymore.

The device measures at 164.4 x 75 which is a standard for phones with a large display. The thickness at 8.9 mm is understandable as it uses a large 4,300mAh battery.

On top, you'll see the first microphone. Below, you'll find the 3.5mm headphone jack, the second mic, USB-C slot, and Super Linear Speaker.

The USB-C slot supports the 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 with five-layer security protection. It can fully charge the phone in 60 minutes from 0 to 100 percent.

Via 3.5mm headphone slot, you can enjoy both the
Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos.

At left, you'll see the hole to access the dual nano-SIM and microSD slot as well as the volume up and down keys. At right, you can access the pressable power key that acts as a fingerprint scanner.

Since the phone is big, don't expect it one-hand typing operation to be easy. It is a bit heavy at 202 grams as well.

As of the moment

This device has the potential to be a best-seller due to its impressive design, screen, specs,  battery, charging tech, cameras, and more.

That will only happen if the price is right though. Fortunately, realme is a brand that is best known for providing bang-for-the-buck products most of the time.

To be honest, I'm excited. See you in our full review!
