realme 6 Unboxing and First Impressions
Announced last March 2020 in India, the realme 6 is finally arriving in the Philippines.
realme 5 Pro arrived in the Philippines in October 2019. Several months later, the realme 6 arrives with significant upgrades.
Inside the realme 6 are the MediaTek Helio G90T octa-core processor, Mali-G76 GPU, 4GB/6GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 64GB/128GB UFS 2.1, and 4,300mAh battery with 30W Flash Charge.
At the back of the device is a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-camera, 2MP macro camera, 2MP monochrome camera and LED flash while in front is a 16MP selfie camera.
Running the show is Android 10 with realme UI 1.0.
This is our unboxing and first impressions of the realme 6.
The realme 6 comes with the company's signature bright yellow packaging with the phone and accessories.
Inside is the phone, USB Type-A to USB Type-C, Power Plug 5V/6A, transparent silicone case, and documentation. Sadly, no earphones are included in the box.
For those interested, the company is also offering wired and wireless earphones called the realme Buds 2 and the Buds Air. Both are sold separately.
The realme 6 has a beautiful glasstic backplate with a blue to white gradient with unique reflections depending on how the light hits the back surface.
On the top left side is the vertical quad-camera module with an LED flash. At the bottom left side is the realme logo.
In front of the realme 6 is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display with a pre-installed screen protector. Like the realme 6i, the screen protector's edges are sharper than we would like and this may be uncomfortable for some people.
It has some sort of water splash resistance as well.
The realme 6 does not have realme 6i's Rimowa luggage-looking back design. It is now using a 3D curved glasstic material. There are two colorways available: Comet Blue and Comet White.
In front, realme 6 has a 6.5-inch 2.5D curved display with 2400 x 1080p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. At the top-left portion is the punch hole for the 16MP selfie camera. Bezels are reasonably slim and it has an impressive 90.5 percent screen-to-body ratio.
On top of the display is the earpiece that is only used for calls and not as a second speaker of stereo. The top and side bezels are consistently thin while the bottom bezel is noticeably thicker.
The top of the realme 6 is smooth while at the bottom are the 3.5mm headphone jack, the USB Type-C port, the microphone port, and the speaker grill.
On the left side of the phone are the volume buttons and the triple slot SIM tray for two nano SIMs and one microSD card slot. On the right side is the power button that doubles as the fingerprint scanner.
Powering the device is a large 43,00mAh battery with 30W Flash Charge in a chassis that measures 162.1 x 74.8 x 9.6 mm and weighs just 191 grams.
The matte finish polycarbonate frame of the realme 6 makes it easy to hold while giving enough heft to the hand.
Overall, it has decent build quality with a beautiful design for the price.

Like the realme 6 Pro, realme hasn't shared the exact SRP and storage variants of the realme 6. It is expected to be priced under PHP 15K. The review unit that realme sent to us is the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model.
Depending on the price, the realme 6 can offer amazing value because of its FHD+ 90Hz display, USB Type-C, and the MediaTek G90T.
So far after using the phone for a few days, the performance in battery, cameras, and gaming is promising to say the least.
The 30W Flash Charge along with the 64MP quad-cam are impressive.
