CLOY's Captain Ri to endorse Smart

PLDT and Smart Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) announced on Twitter that the company has tapped South Korean actor Hyun Bin to endorse the local telco giant.

Also on Twitter, Smart shared the Hyun Bin teaser with the caption "The Captain is coming. Watch out for the big RiVeal" which suggests that the company has a huge announcement to make.

To recall, Hyun Bin is the lead actor of the hit South Korean drama Crash Landing on You (CLOY). He is best known in that series for his role as Captain Ri Jeong Hyeok, a North Korean elite soldier who fell in love with South Korean Chaebol heiress Yoon Se-ri played by Son Ye-Jin.

Apart from CLOY, Hyun Bin also starred in numerous K-dramas My Name Is Kim Sam-soon, Secret Garden, Memories of the Alhambra, The Negotiation, and more.

MVP said that Smart will reveal more details about the endorsement on June 1. We speculate that it has something to do with its latest offerings. Maybe 5G?

Whatever it is, I'm sure a lot of K-drama fans in the country will be excited about this commercial.
