Staying fit is a serious business when you want to track your progress in a week or in a month. Yes, you want to make sure that those efforts are not in vain.

Luckily, nowadays you can depend on more than just the scale and the mirror to monitor your improvement. A great smartwatch like the GT 2 can do that and so much more.

Let's have a recap of its intriguing yet functional features so you can decide if suits your fitness and everyday activities.

The design of this Huawei watch is an interesting combination of classic and innovation. For me, the addition of the leather strap gives an industrial-chic vibe.

This quality makes it versatile since it can be wearable with either formal or casual attire. I also like that it came with an extra rubber strap, just in case I want to use it for swimming or sweaty workouts.

This is certainly well-crafted and the manufacturer used high-quality materials like stainless steel and genuine leather. You can also say goodbye to bulky wearables since this one has a slim and elegant built.

Well-crafted, as expected!

It has no frills and extras, just two physical buttons on the right side. One acts as a home button while the other is specifically for health tracking and launching workouts.

Generally, the display of wearables can give off some glare when you use it outdoors. Well, there's no worry about that for this Huawei Watch. At 462 ppi, the GT 2's display is remarkably sharp.

The watch's face is also neat-looking since it's 3D-curved and bezel-less and that means it's easier to view notifications and tracking. Another good thing is Huawei said that they used a gemstone processing technology for its glass screen to make it durable against dust and water.

Is the claim about two-week of battery life of GT2 true? Yes, it's really great that this watch comes with a Kirin A1 chip that has power-saving algorithms. Sometimes, it can last for more than 2 weeks.

Of course, you still have to consider how much you use it for Bluetooth calls or music playback. Aside from that, the Always On Display (AOD) function consumes pretty much energy. You might want to disable it if you want the battery to last longer.

Charging this watch is also fast and simple. Just connect the USB Type-C port and power adapter and then plug in the power adapter to the power source.

After that, rest your watch on top of the charging cradle and make sure the contacts on your watch and the cradle are aligned. A charging icon appears on your watch screen if you did it correctly.

The GT2 has a lot of health and fitness-related monitoring functions so it's up to you on what you'll use for your routine. Pressing the bottom button on the right side will put you in the workout menu with a list of preset workouts This includes various runs, walks, cycles, and machines that can be specific to outdoor and indoor tracking.

Aside from that, this watch can monitor heart rate, oxygen consumption, sleep pattern, and stress level. By default, the watch actively monitors heart rate and sleep.

But for the stress tracking, this one is enabled manually. Just download the Huawei Health app on your Android phone to do that and also view your health stats.

This watch can also give you an idea to monitor your stress levels with TruRelax. With this technology, it can provide you a feedback regarding your stress index and breathing exercises to manage it better.

Definitely, this feature is useful especially if your schedule is toxic or you're anxious most of the time.

Another stunning feature of the GT 2 watch is it lets you stay connected and entertained during your exercise. It means you can multi-task during your fitness routine so perhaps you won't be bored while running on a treadmill.

Stable connectivity, strong battery life!

It features a Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, good enough to take calls from your phone. A  speaker and microphone are also included in this, both are mainly used for having a conversation using your smartwatch. There was no problem experienced during the testing, no distortions as well.

Huawei GT 2 also has a feature that is quite suited for those who can't workout without those pumping music. The Kirin A1 chip also enables it to store up to 500 songs. With this, you can enjoy your playlist during jogging even without your phone in your pocket. It also pairs easily with FreeBuds 3 if you have one.

Quick thoughts

After more than 6 months of use, we still think that Huawei GT 2 is a superb smartwatch in terms of design, battery life, and tracking features.

It's minimalist yet contemporary look is appropriate for casual or even formal occasions. The display provides enough clarity and brightness, hence reading notifications is pretty comfortable for the eyes.

The Bluetooth connectivity for calls is also a welcome feature for most of us who are busy with daily tasks. Even you are working out, you can still be updated with notifications from your work email or text messages or DMs from your friends.

Huawei Health app is also the best in terms of providing analysis of workout performance since it is quite detailed but easy to understand.

With these attributes, Huawei GT 2 is definitely the king among smartwatches available in the local market as of now.
