Sony has finally revealed how the Playstation 5 looks like along with several upcoming games for the new console. At the PS5 live event, the hardware design of the new console includes black-and-white cues that match the previously announced Dual Sense controller that will be included in the box.

To recap, the Sony Playstation 5 will be powered by an 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU with a custom AMD RDNA 2-based GPU that Sony claims provide 10.28 teraflops of power. It will include a super-fast 5.5GB/sec 825GB SSD and will support Ray-Tracing, 8K, 4K at 120Hz and 3D audio.

The PS5 comes with a purpose-built stand that allows it to be placed either vertically or lay flat horizontally. The new console will come in two variants. One with the 4K Blu-ray drive and one without it called the Digital Edition. When placed side-by-side the variant without the Blu-ray drive is noticeably slimmer and with a more symmetrical and minimalist design.

On top of the PS5 are the vents that dissipate heat and in front of the console are the USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports.

The included Dual Sense Controller features adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and the new create button for gameplay content sharing.

Lastly, Sony says that the PS5 will have backwards compatibility support for nearly all of the more than 4000 Playstation 4 titles that exist today.

It is speculated that with the removal of the Blu-Ray drive, the PS5 Digital Edition should have a significant price difference over the variant with the 4K Blu-Ray drive.

There is still no word on pricing and availability.
