Canalys: vivo tops PH smartphone share in Q2 2020, realme up to number 3!

Research firm Canalys just revealed the top smartphone vendors in terms of market share in the Philippines for Q2 2020. The one on top? vivo!

Philippines: Top smartphone vendors in Q2 2020

vivo has bested OPPO for the top spot by grabbing 21 percent of the PH market share. It is equivalent to an 18 percent YoY growth. vivo achieved this feat despite releasing only 1 phone in Q2 2020 and the challenges presented by the Coronavirus pandemic.

At the number 2 position is Samsung with 19 percent of the market share. It is down by 7 percent YoY.

The surprise on the list is newcomer realme—a 2-year-old smartphone brand.

realme recorded the highest jump at the number 3 position with 18 percent of the market share and a whopping 254 percent growth.

Sadly, the biggest loser is OPPO at number 4 with 17 percent of the market share and a negative 43 percent growth.

Going up to the top 5 is Huawei with 7 percent of the market share. But, there's still a decline of 32 percent year-on-year.

The data is based on Canalys estimates (sell-in shipments) this August 2020.
