vivo V20 Unboxing and First Impressions

vivo has brought the V20 series to the Philippines. In this article, we unbox and share our experience with the vanilla V20!

vivo V20 in Sunset Melody

vivo Philippines is bringing the V20 series soon and we got our hands on it. The new smartphone from vivo features a large 6.44-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 720G, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB of storage, and 4000mAh battery with 33W fast-charging.

Depending on the price point, this could be another killer from vivo with its stunning looks and capable specs.

Let's see how it performs out of the box!

Unboxing/Accessories

Packaged in bright blue box, the vivo V20 comes with the smartphone, clear case, documentation, earphones, SIM Ejector tool, USB Type-A to Type-C cable, and 33W Charger. 

Unlike other brands who don't include 3.5mm headphones and a charging brick.

Build Quality/Design

vivo has significantly been improving their build quality and design over the years and the recently released X50 series shows it. It was a stunningly eye-catching device and this is the same with the V20! It uses high-quality polycarbonate, and glass material that make it stand out in a kiosk full of smartphones. This is especially true with the Sunset Melody Colorway that shines and shimmers in different colors depending on how the light hits the back panel.

Netflix binge with V20?

In front of the vivo V20 is a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 that is bright, vibrant and crisp out of the box. Text are easily readble while the colors just pop even in direct sunlight.

At the back is a frosted glass panel that curves slightly that makes it easier to hold but even though it is frosted, the back panel is noticeably slippery and still somewhat of a fingerprint magnet.

Top and bottom side

On top of the V20 is a single microphone port while at the bottom are the speaker grills, USB Type-C, microphone port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Left and Right

On the left side of the V20 is the SIM tray that holds two nano-SIMs and one microSD slot while on the right are the volume rocker and power button.

The phone measures at only 161.3 x 74.2 x 7.4mm and weighs in at only 171 grams which makes it easy to hold. As mentioned earlier, even though the back panel is frosted, it is still slippery. We recommend wearing the included case right away.

At the back of the vivo V20 is a 64MP f/1.9 main camera, 8MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra wide camera and a 2MP f/2.4 depth camera with Dual-LED flash while in front is a 44MP f/2.0 camera.

Out of the box, the V20 can take up to 4K at 30fps with both front and rear cameras.

As of the moment

vivo V20 

As of this writing, we do not know yet the V20's price and depending on it, this could be a killer smartphone or not. If priced right, this could be a killer phone because of its unique and beautiful design while having that reliable Snapdragon 720G, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB of storage and 4000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

Aside from its looks, out of the box, the selfie images are already one of the best we've seen in 2020 at its price point.

Let's not forget that unlike other brands vivo still includes a case, a 3.5mm jack earphones and a charging brick inside the box too.
