Samsung is expected to announce the successor to the Galaxy S series this coming first quarter of 2021. Several reports have been claiming that the Korean Giant may discontinue the popular Note line next year.

A recent report by Korean Publication Aju Business daily claims that Samsung Electronics confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable smartphone will arrive on June 2021 and that the Korean giant will discontinue the Galaxy Note series. The report states that Samsung has begun developing the final samples for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 for mass production that is expected to feature S-Pen support and an under-display camera.
The upcoming flagship foldable will allegedly have an S-Pen and an S-Pen compartment while the unannounced S21 Ultra will have S-Pen support but will not have an S-Pen compartment. Because the S21 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have S-Pen support, the Note series will be discontinued.
Samsung succeeded in mounting an in-screen digitizer to recognize the S-Pen but had difficulty in developing a tempered glass that prevents the screen from scratching while using the S-Pen. This resulted in Samsung replacing the CPI film with Ultra-Thin Glass on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 because the first generation Ultra-Thin Glass could not support S-Pen.
Samsung subsidiary Dowwoo Insys developed and delivered the new second-generation Ultra-Thin Glass that made it possible to use the S-Pen on a foldable display.
Twitter user "cozyplanes" translated the report by Aju Business Daily and it is worth noting that the 'Galaxy Z Fold 3' is the tentative name and that the source of the confirmation of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 launch date and the discontinuation of the Note series is an unnamed Samsung official.
Take this information with a grain of salt as until Samsung makes an official announcement, this information is still considered as rumors.
