Strong for a mid-ranger, but it can't compete with the top dogs

DxOMark gave the Google Pixel 5 a Photo score of 129 points, Zoom score of 49 points, and Video score of 107 points to achieve an average score of 120 points. Its score is up by 7 points compared to the 113 of the Pixel 4 that uses a flagship chip.

At 120 points, DxOMark placed the Pixel 5 in the same league as the Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition. It is also higher than the OnePlus 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S20+ with 119 and 118 points respectively. It is also near the score of the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G, Huawei Mate 30 Pro, and Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition with 121 points each.

That's not bad for a device witha  12.2MP f/1.7 with PDAF and OIS + 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera with a 107-degree field of view.

DxOMark concluded that with limited hardware, the Pixel 5 is delivering close to top scores for the basics of exposure, color, and autofocus. But, it stands behind the top performers for attributes such as texture, noise, bokeh, and zoom due to its lack of sensors.

Pixel 5's average of 120 points is far from the 136, 133, and 132 points of DxO's top-scoring phones.
