In 2019, Fujifilm announced the GFX100 100MP Medium Format Mirrorless camera with IBIS, 4K 30fps video recording, and an integrated battery grip. Today at the Fujifilm X-Summit live stream, the Japanese multinational photography, medical equipment, and biotechnology company has announced several new cameras and lenses for its X-series and GFX-series camera systems.

Included in the announcement is the new GFX 100S and the GF 80mm F1.7 R WR.

Up first is the new GFX 100S. It is the successor to 2016's GFX 50s Medium Format Mirrorless camera. It is packing the same 102MP BSI CMOS 44 x 33mm medium format sensor with In-body Image Stabilization or IBIS from the bigger GFX 100 and the same X-Processor 4.

Unlike the bigger GFX 100, the new GFX 100S comes with a FIXED 3.68M dot OLED viewfinder with 0.77x magnification. It also comes with the NP-W235 battery that was first introduced in the Fujifilm X-T4 that was announced in 2020.

The new camera can capture up to 16-bit RAW photos. It can also record up to DCI or UHD 4K at up to 30fps in H.265 or H.264 at up to 400Mbps and at up to 10-bit 4:2:2 or 12-bit RAW data to an external recorder.

It saves photos and video into twin UHS-II SD card slots and the camera is able to shoot up to 5fps. At the back is the 2.36M 3.2-inch tilting touch screen.

Aside from the new Body, Fujifilm also announced the new FUJINON GF 80mm F1.7 R WR Lens. It is the world's first F1.7 interchangeable lens with autofocus designed for a medium format system. It bears a standard focal length of 80mm (or in 35mm/Full-Frame equivalent of 63mm). It features an Aperture ring and is Weather Resistance. This means that the lens is sealed in 10 locations against dust and water and is able to operate even at -10 degrees Celsius. Lastly, the lens measures 99.2mm with a filter thread size of 77mm and weighs in at 795 grams.
