Sony Alpha 1 unveiled with 50.1MP, up to 8K recording, and more!

Sony has just announced the arrival of Alpha 1 as its most powerful and innovative mirrorless camera yet.

With advanced features, the Alpha sports a 50.1MP full-frame stacked Exmor RS image sensor. This is also said to be capable of 8K 30fps video recording and at 4K 120fps with an ISO range of 100 to 32,000.

It is paired with an OLED quad-XGA electronic viewfinder. This OLED electronic viewfinder comes with a refresh rate of 240Hz in which Sony pioneered on as they claimed.

According to the company, the camera's real-time Eye AF can perform 30 percent better than viewfinders of predecessors. To automatically retain focus on the subject, it uses AI-based real-time tracking. 

For the autofocus and autoexposure system, this one can make up to 120 calculations per second. It can capture 8,640 x 5,760 pixels at 49.7-megapixel at 3:2 aspect ratio. In terms of storage, it has two slots with support for SD card, SDHC card, SDXC card, and CFexpress Type A card.

Moreover, the Alpha 1 has a mechanical and electronically-controlled shutter with a silent shooting feature. Connectivity options on the full-frame camera include a Micro-USB port, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, 3.5mm mic terminal, and a LAN terminal. 

This also sports a built-in mic and a monaural speaker. There is also a USB Type-C port that supports fast SuperSpeed USB 10-Gbps (USB 3.2) data transfer speeds and power delivery.

Sony Alpha 1 - USD 6,500 (around PHP 300K)

According to the company, they'll start shipping in March and it will be sold at a variety of Sony's authorized dealers throughout North America. There's no information yet regarding its availability in other regions.
