Distance learning is the new normal for education since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. China's donation of 2,000 Huawei tablets will assist Filipino students to get better access to distance learning resources.

Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian gave the tablets to DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones who was accompanied by Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs, Chief of Presidential Protocol Reober Eric Borje, and DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan. The ceremony was held in Malacañang.

China is also committed to continuing to support the educational projects and efforts of the Philippines government. The Chinese embassy will also continue expanding the Chinese Government Scholarship and Chinese Ambassador Scholarship campaigns.

China has been providing assistance to the Philippines. Previously, it granted livelihood and medical supplies to the Philippines with a donation of 150 sets of humidifiers, 130 ventilators, 252,000 test kits, and over 1.8 million PPEs.
