DITO delivers first-year commitments!

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said the third telco player passed the technical performance audit, citing findings from independent auditor R.G. Manabat and Co.

For the first year, DITO promised to provide 27 megabits per second of speed, covering 37 percent of the Philippine population.

In its technical audit, DITO's coverage reached 37.48 percent or 37,845,315 based on the 2015 national census population of 100.983 million.

This is equivalent to 8,860 barangays.

In terms of speed, DITO was able to post minimum average broadband speeds at 85.9 Mbps for 4G and 507.5 Mbps for 5G. Speeds were faster near base stations: 102.4 Mbps for 4G and 769.1 Mbps for 5G.

Dito's entry in the market is a welcome development in the telco industry. A healthier competition within the industry fulfills President Duterte's promise to the Filipino people of better telco service thru cheaper prices and improved internet speed, the NTC said in its statement.

DITO Telecommunity, backed by Davao's Dennis Uy and China Telecommunications, is set for commercial launch this March.
