The leaked OnePlus 9 Pro prototype comes with Hasselblad cameras!

Techtuber Dave2D today has published a video showing an alleged early look at what seems to be the OnePlus 9 Pro with a Hasselblad camera system.

OnePlus x Hasselblad?

To recap, OnePlus has long been criticized due to its "just okay" cameras. But recently, especially with the OnePlus 8 Pro, their cameras are starting to compete well with the top dogs.

But in early 2021, CEO Pete Lau promised more camera improvements starting with the OnePlus 9 Series.

The company's solution is to partner with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad. To those who don't know, Hasselblad is a known premium medium format manufacturer. They have camera models like the flagship H6D that could cost USD 33,000 (PHP 1.5 million) without a lens.

If true, this means that earlier leaks suggesting that OnePlus will partner with Leica are false.

Based on the design, the OnePlus 9 Pro with Hasselblad cameras is using a rectangular-shaped camera island with rounded corners. It shows two big cameras, Hasselblad branding, and two more cameras at the bottom. This camera system also has a dual-tone LED flash and a slot for its focusing system.

Likely, this will be similar to Huawei's co-engineered cameras with Leica or vivo's collaboration with ZEISS.

Hopefully, if the leak is accurate, this move will elevate the camera performance of upcoming OnePlus phones to the next level.
