Xiaomi outs Mi MIX FOLD with AMOLED screen, quad stereo speakers, Desktop mode, liquid lens, and Surge C1 image chip!

Apart from revealing its new logo and new AIoT devices, Xiaomi unveiled that the MIX is back in the form of the Mi MIX FOLD.

Back and front design when folded

Mi MIX Fold is the first foldable smartphone of the company. Similar to most foldable phones, the device is designed to enhance the productivity of its users on the go.

Xiaomi claimed that it uses durable precision hinges that can be bent 1 million times and can reduce weight by 27 percent.

Its full screen versus the competition

The main display is an 8.01-inch WQHD+ 387 ppi true full display with no cutout. It also has HDR10+, Dolby Vision HDR technology for Netflix and Amazon Prime, 2K+ 2480 x 1860 resolution, 4:3 ratio, 600 nits brightness, and DCI-P3 color gamut. It also has a 75 percent viewing experience for watching high-resolution movies.

When folded, you will find a secondary 6.52-inch AMOLED thinner screen with 2520 x 840 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and 700 nits brightness.

Inside, it is powered by Qualcomm's 5nm Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor with up to 2.84GHz clock speed, Adreno 660 GPU, and a built-in 5G modem. It is paired with up to 16GB RAM, up to 512GB storage, and a large 5,020mAh battery with USB-C 67W fast charging support. Keeping the performance in check is a new butterfly cooling system.

For cameras, it is very impressive. It is a triple-camera setup with a quad-camera function. The main shooter is a 108MP camera with 2.1μm pixels. It is paired with a 13MP 123-degree ultra-wide-angle camera and an 8MP camera.

The 8MP camera is special. It is the very first liquid lens inspired by human eyes for smartphones. It has up to 30x zoom and macro photography. Basically, it can switch from telephoto to macro whenever you need it.

Moreover, this is also the first to use the new Surge C1 in-house chip to improve the triple AAA performance of its cameras. AA stands for Autofocus, Auto White Balance, and Auto Exposure. Basically, this chip was designed to greatly improve the picture quality of its cameras.

To further enhance the multimedia experience, Xiaomi paired this device with a Quad stereo speaker with Harman Kardon audio.

Aside from the multitasking possibilities due to its large screen, this has a Desktop mode with a PC-like interface that can be accessed on a three-finger swipe.

Of course, it has WiFi 6, 5G, and most of the common connectivity features found on modern smartphones.
