PLDT upgrades connections of over 153,000 homes and businesses!

Telco giant PLDT has migrated over 153,000 homes and business establishments from copper to fiber in the first seven months of 2021.

PLDT delivers better connectivity with fiber migration program

The Pangilinan-led group has been migrating copper-based services to fiber since last year as it targets to complete the program by mid-2022.

Homes and businesses with fiber connections can expect better connectivity, PLDT assured.

Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT and Smart president and chief executive officer said in a statement the group has been also beefing up its fiber installation and repair capabilities.

Our network ecosystem supports our increasingly connected societies especially in the new normal where the digital lifestyle is powered by connectivity – supporting our livelihood, education, daily transactions, entertainment, and socio-economic responsibilities, Panlilio said.

PLDT said it has the most robust, most resilient fiber-optic network, servicing most areas around the nation.

Currently, PLDT's fiber network now stretching to a total of 511,000 kilometers across the Philippines.

The network, it noted, also supports Smart Communications' mobile services.

PLDT and Smart’s push to provide connectivity for all is aligned with the group’s long-standing commitment to help the Philippines attain the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG #9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure and SDG #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
