DITO Telecommunity targets to launch broadband service next year

During a recent BusinessWorld Live interview, aired on Cignal TV’s One News Channel, DITO chief administrative officer Adel A. Tamano said that while DITO remains heavily focused on its mobile business, which it officially launched in March, the firm will expand its footprint to include the broadband market.

We do believe that the situation in terms of the COVID crisis—it's not going to last forever. People are going to go back to the workplace, go back to schools, and so mobile services will be increasingly even more in demand, so that’s our focus for now but definitely broadband is a space we want to play in as well, Tamano explained.

According to Tamano, the group is now working on a "friendly user test" for the planned rollout of its broadband service.

The official noted that DITO will offer the service "early next year".

For this year alone, DITO already spent over PHP 150 billion for its network buildup. Its five-year investment plan is set at PHP 250 billion.

Late in August, DITO said its mobile services are now accessible in 210 locations across the Philippines.

Almost five months after it made its mobile services commercially available, DITO has now two million subscribers.
