Number 1 series in 94 countries in the world!

In a span of just 25 days, Squid Game has caught the attention of 111 million subscribers since its September 17 premiere worldwide. It can be recalled that "Bridgerton" was holding the biggest series title on Netflix with 82 million households watching it in the first 28 days following its 2020 Christmas debut.

When we first started investing in Korean series and films in 2015, we knew we wanted to make world-class stories for the core K-content fans across Asia and the world, said Minyoung Kim, Netflix's vice president of content for the Asia Pacific, excluding India.

He also added that Netflix has broken through beyond their "wildest dreams". The series creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk originally wanted Squid Game to be a film in 2008.

Having grown into an adult, the question 'what would it be like to go back and play those childhood games again?' was the start to the creation of the entire series, Hwang said on his idea of the series.

Director Hwang also said that Squid Game is a "story about losers." So, will we be getting a second installment of the series?

"There's nothing confirmed at the moment, but so many people are enthusiastic that I'm really contemplating it," he said in a statement for CNN.

Congratulations to Netflix and Squid Game team!
