As announced during the #GlobeInnoverse event held for key industry and media partners, Globe is widening its entertainment partners as it acquired a partnership with Crunchyroll along with its current entertainment partners Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Viu.

Crunchyroll is a popular anime direct-to-consumer service with 5 million SVOD subscribers and growing.  According to the press release, it has more than 120 million registered users across more than 200 countries and territories. It mainly offers AVOD, mobile games, manga, events merchandise, and distribution.

Allegedly, the partnership means good news for anime fans since they can catch the latest episodes of their favorite shows, an hour after it was aired in Japan. Head of GET ENTERTAINED tribe at Globe Rina Siongco said that this collaboration opens up more than 1,000 premium anime titles Globe subscribers to enjoy when the service goes official.

The Innoverse event showcases the telco giant's achievements within the year such as rolling out massive 5G efforts, laying down more than 1 Million FTTH lines this year migrating Globe Broadband customers from DSL and LTE to Fiber, establishing their stronghold on fintech arena via 917Ventures and Gcash, and creating brand ambassador partnerships here and around the world.

Globe Telecom hasn't announced yet when the Crunchyroll service will go live for its subscribers. We'll have to wait yet for further details but we'll keep you posted.
