Google decides to pause PH election ads
In an issued statement, the company said the policy will run from February 8 to May 9, 2022.
This policy will apply to election advertisements that are purchased through Google Ads, Display and Video 360, and Shopping platforms that advertisers intend to place on Google, YouTube, and partner properties. This includes advertisements that promote or oppose any political party or the candidacy of any person or party for public office, Google said.
The group said that its efforts and resources are focused on providing people with access to useful and accurate information via product features and media literacy programs, and enticing Filipinos to participate in the voting process.
Google said it has been supporting the upcoming general elections with #MagpaRehistroKa of COMELEC, MullenLowe TREYNA, and Dashboard Philippines.
This year, the company also launched #YOUTHink magazine to help combat misinformation through media and information literacy.
