OPPO Air Glass unveiled!

The brand's newest smart glass is an assisted reality (aR) device that attaches to specially designed frames and uses a micro projector to overlay various types of data right in front of your eyes.

The Air Glass is made up of two parts: a frame that houses the components, such as the Snapdragon Wear 4100 Platform CPU, and a lens.

Then the second part would be the monocular waveguide and a self-developed Spark Micro Projector, which projects information through five-element glass lenses using micro-LED technology.

It has a size of a coffee bean having a dimension of just 0.5cc which makes the projector one of the smallest in the industry. Despite its small size, the projector's micro-LED technology allows it to achieve high brightness levels.

OPPO's Air Glass features a custom-made optical diffraction waveguide with two display modes, a 16-level grayscale, and a 256-level grayscale that can produce up to 1400 nits of average brightness, ensuring that information is visible in a variety of lighting scenarios.

The device can be controlled by touch, voice, or hand motion if paired with an OPPO Watch 2, and head movements. To give you an idea, nodding or shaking your head will allow you to open and close notifications.

The smart glass also has many apps such as Weather, Calendar, Health, Navigation, or Teleprompter, allowing the users to give a presentation almost anywhere.

They also put an innovative feature, the device has a built-in translation capability that allows two persons using Air Glass to communicate across cultures. A two-way translation between Mandarin Chinese and English will be available right out of the box. Mandarin Chinese will be added later, along with Japanese and Korean.

Air Glass will need the Smart Glass app, which is available on the OPPO's Watch 2 and smartphones, running ColorOS 11 or up.

OPPO says their smart glass will launch in China by the first quarter of 2022. It will come in two colorways—White or Black with a choice of two frames, a silver half-frame or a black full-frame.

However, there's no information with regards to its price, but we will update you once it surfaces online.
