On the first day of the Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm launched the new 4nm-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship SoC mobile platform. On day two, the company announced the successor to last year's Snapdragon 7c Gen called the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3. The new chipset is built on the 6nm process that the company claims to offer 60 percent faster CPU performance and up to 70 percent faster GPU performance.

It will also feature sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G connectivity with the built-in Snapdragon X53 5G Modem-RF that offer peak download speeds of 3.7Gbps. Aside from this, it will have FastConnect 6900 which offer up to 2.9Gbps download speeds over WiFi 6 and 6E.

The chipset also features the Qualcomm Spectra ISP that supports triple cameras up to 22MP, dual cameras up to 36MP and 22MP, and a single camera up to 64MP while providing support for 4K HDR video capture.

The built-in Qualcomm AI engine enables AI-accelerated experiences through 6.5 TOPS of performance while the Qualcomm Voice Suite for AI-based Echo-cancellation and noise suppression (ECNS) is there for clearer audio.

Lastly, it supports Microsoft PlayReady 3.0 and modern video streaming services. This improves connectivity with the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 which results in fast, advanced, and efficient always-connected laptops for the entry-tier Windows PC and Chromebooks.

Devices with the new chipset are expected to arrive in the first half of 2022.
