Samsung welcomes new leadership in the Philippines

Minsu Chu has over two decades of experience including 11 years in Samsung. He most recently held the role of President of Samsung Electronics New Zealand. Chu has been the business director of SEPCO from 2014 to 2018 and this new role is his comeback to the Philippines

Samsung claims that Chu's appointment comes on the heels of "a robust business performance of Samsung Philippines" amid the ongoing pandemic. Chu is aiming for a stronger synergy between its different business units Mobile, Visual Display, and Digital Appliances to reflect the company's ongoing commitment to creating new and meaningful experiences for customers.

I am very pleased to return to the Philippines which I have long considered as my second home. This country has immense potential with its dynamic economy and a large and young population, said Mr. Chu. Even with the unprecedented global crisis, the country has remained resilient and has already shown signs of strong recovery, putting economic growth back on track.

We need to strengthen our capabilities and operations to be more responsive to the changing consumer sentiments and habits in order to cement our leadership in the local consumer electronics industry, he added.

Chu replaced James Jung who served Samsung Philippines as president since 2019.

Samsung also recently announced a newly merged Device eXperience (DX) Division, which comprises the Visual Display Business, Digital Appliances Business, Health & Medical Equipment Business, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, and Networks Business.
