Ookla: Smart posts fastest mobile data speeds in Q4 2021
Smart Communications, the wireless arm of PLDT, defeated its rivals anew as it delivered the fastest mobile data speeds in the last quarter of 2021.

Smart offers the fastest mobile data speeds in PH
Latest report from global analytics firm Ookla showed that the Pangilinan-led telco recorded the highest Speed Score of 68.78 in the last three months of 2021, beating competitors Globe Telecom and DITO Telecommunity.
Globe posted a 32.67 Speed Score, while third telco DITO hit a rating of 24.47.
Ookla said the speed tests were measured on smart devices, equipped with modern chipsets and have the capability to detect and use 5G networks.
Meanwhile, based on Speedtest Global Index, the Philippines ranked 89th in terms of mobile internet performance, as of last month.
During the period, subscribers residing in Caloocan City experienced the fastest median download speeds at 25.24 Mbps.
Customers in Manila and Quezon City, meanwhile, enjoyed 24.34 Mbps and 23.21 Mbps, respectively.
Smart also won in the 5G download speed with 220.89 Mbps against Globe’s 117.93 Mbps.
