Xiaomi subsidiary brand, Redmi officially announced a partnership with the Mercedes-AMG F1 team.
A few days from now, specifically on February 16, Redmi will have a brand press conference to launch several new devices. This includes Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, Redmi K50 Pro, and a Redmi K50 Gaming Edition.
However, that is not all since the latest announcement reveals a special edition for the Formula 1 team. According to Redmi, Mercedes will serve as the exclusive mobile phone partner to explore extreme performance.
There's also a hint that there will be a Redmi K50 Mercedes F1 smartphone getting launched which is likely to be a limited edition model. Based on the leaks, the K50 Gaming Edition will come with a design similar to that of its predecessor.
Allegedly, the company is retaining the pulsating LED light around the camera module. As for the color options, it will have two: Blue Ice and Mercedes AMG Petronas Edition.
The leaks claimed that the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will have a 6.67-inch OLED Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 480Hz touch sampling rate along with Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Under the hood, the gaming phone is going to run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Aside from the cooling system, this is reportedly the first to be equipped with a CyberEngine ultra-wideband motor. It will be powered by a 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast charging support
The device will also sport a triple-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor, coupled with a 13-megapixel OmniVision OV13B sensor, and a 2-megapixel tertiary lens. For selfies, there will be a 20MP
This one is expected to have the latest Android 12 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MIUI 13 custom user interface on top.
Apparently, the K50 Mercedes Edition will feature the iconic color scheme of the Mercedes F1 cars. It will have a grey-colored back panel with black triangular elements around the mid-section of the back panel. The two sides of the triangles will be lined with cyan color and a glowing RGB strip is integrated within the camera module.
The device will also get two dark gray racing stripes running vertically down the center of the back panel and a Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team branding at the top right corner along with the iconic Mercedes badge.
Redmi has not formally introduced the K50 series yet so we should take this information with a grain of salt and wait for the actual launch.
