PLDT's telco core income hits PHP 30.2 billion in 2021, allots PHP 76-80 billion capex this year
PLDT Inc. saw its telco core income increase by 8 percent to PHP 30.2 billion in 2021, proving to be a "record-breaking year" for the group, a company executive said.

In a statement, the telco also said it booked record service revenues of PHP 182.1 billion, 6 percent higher than 2020's PHP 171.5 billion. In the fourth quarter alone, consolidated service revenues reached PHP 46.2 billion.
2021 proved to be record-breaking year for PLDT as we delivered all-time highs across the board despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, calamities and hyper competition, said Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT and Smart President and CEO.
The jump in its topline was driven by its data and broadband services, PLDT said.
Its home business contributed PHP 47.8 billion in revenues, with its fiber-to-the-home business seeing record growth last year after generating PHP 33 billion.

The total number of fixed broadband customers is now at nearly 3 million.
Enterprise revenues, meanwhile, rose 4 percent to PHP 42.2 billion. Its individual wireless business, on the other hand, realized PHP 86.2 billion in revenues.

The telco giant intends to invest PHP 76 billion to PHP 80 billion this 2022, much lower than the PHP 89 billion it spent last year as it seeks to improve its cash flow.
