Duterte: Players of e-sabong are not sleeping for 24 hours

In March, we had a report that Duterte declined the Senate's call to suspension of online sabong permits. PAGCOR chairperson Andrea Domingo pointed out that suspending the online gambling operations would have budgetary and economic implications.

Domingo even mentioned that the industry has earned at least PHP 640 million monthly since January.

But now, the President now ordered the end of online cockfighting. In a recorded speech, Duterte stated that he had authorized the Department of the Interior and Local Government of Philippines (DILG) to conduct a survey.

Allegedly, department discovered the alarming "social impact" of e-sabong. He added,

But may naririnig na ako loud and very clear to me that it was working against our values. Iyong impact sa pamilya pati sa tao, ang labas hindi na natutulog ang mga sabungero 24 hour working against our values.

According to Duterte, he will leave the details of the order to Año. However, he insisted it will happen no later than May 3 and the Malacañang is yet to release the order as of 10 AM.

As of the moment, this decision from the Palance is in line with that of the Senate, particularly that of Senator Ronald de la Rosa. The March 2022 data from the Senate showed that 34 persons involved in e-sabong had been reported missing.

In a memorandum, Malacañang ordered the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation to conduct a "thorough investigation" into the reported disappearances.

Do you guys agree with this decision? What are your thoughts?
