More Globe cell sites this 2022

For the first quarter alone, the telco said it built 234 cell sites nationwide, upgraded 2,344 mobile sites to 4G, and installed 380 5G sites.

Globe said its "aggressive" network deployment was supported by the group's investment reaching PHP 21 billion for the quarter, or 24 percent of its PHP 89 billion full-year capital expenditures.

Deploying more cell sites means more customers will experience Globe's #1stWorldNetwork, it said in a statement.

Its investments in its infrastructure have also been recognized by global analytics firm Ookla, which earlier claimed the group was the "most consistent mobile operator in the Philippines" in the period.

These metrics truly speak to the intensive investments that we've made to improve customer experience on our network as we believe that consistency is the most important experience metric because it’s not just speed that matters to the customers but also consistency. Depending on the activity, there is a recommended performance threshold wherein beyond that, it is already imperceptible to the customer, said Joel Agustin, SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering, Globe Network Technical Group.

Just this Tuesday, Globe reported that it hit a record-high mobile data revenue in the first quarter of 2022. The telco said it booked PHP 20.8-billion mobile data revenue, with it now accounting for 78 percent of the total mobile revenues.
