1. Premium design - Coming from the Samsung Galaxy Z  Fold3 and Z Flip3, the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 maintain the same premium build and design. The Z Fold4 features a wider form factor when opened but is shorter in terms of height. It is also now only 263 grams compared to the last gen's 270 grams. It will also have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for the outer screen. There's no built-in slot for the Samsung S Pen though!

The Galaxy Z Flip4 features a similar design to its last-gen model with a vertical folding inner screen and a smaller outer screen beside the cameras. It has an Armor Aluminum frame with IPX8 water resistance and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus will be used for the black panel as well.

2. More foldable display goodness! - Of course, the main highlights of these smartphones are their foldable screens. The Galaxy Z Fold4 features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ resolution AMOLED inner screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The outer screen is a 6.2-inch HD+ AMOLED screen running at 120Hz.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 features virtually the same specs as the Z Flip3 with a 6.7-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED screen inside with a 2640 x 1080 FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 425 ppi pixel per inch. The outer screen will still be a 1.9-inch 512 x 260 resolution AMOLED screen.

The Galaxy Z Fold4 in particular seems to be leaning into focusing on multitasking using its wider inner screen. Being AMOLED panels, these screens are bright, vibrant, and have good contrast.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 will also be the first device with Android 12L out of the box. This is a version of Android 12 made specifically for large screens.

3. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 - Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 will feature the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 octa-core processor with the latest Adreno GPU. This chip is the most powerful Snapdragon processor to date ensuring ample performance to drive whatever tasks you need. The Z Fold4 will feature 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB UFS 3.1 storage while the Z Flip4 features 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. Both will also have 5G, WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.

4. Bigger batteries! - For the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 the battery remains at 4,400mAh with 25W Adaptive fast charging while the Galaxy Z Flip4 got a bigger 3,700mAh battery than the Z Flip3's 3,300mAh battery. The Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 also have Super Fast Charging that can charge up to 50 percent in 30 minutes and 15W wireless charging compared to last year's 15W wired and 10W wireless charging.

5. Improved cameras! - The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 will feature an improved camera system with a 50MP f/1.8 w/ Super Speed Dual Pixel AF, OIS + 12MP f/2.2 w/ 123-degree ultra-wide-angle + 10MP f/2.4 telephoto w/ PDAF, OIS, 2x optical zoom and LED flash. For selfies, it has a 10MP f/2.2 camera located on the exterior screen while there is a 4MP f/1.8 under-display camera on the inner screen.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 will feature a similar camera system from last year with a 12MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS + 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle with LED flash. For selfies, it has a 10MP f/2.4 sensor. We can expect improvements in the image processing system and software.
