#ICYMI: Redmi K50 Ultra and Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 debuts in China!

Last night, Xiaomi released a new smartphone and a tablet, which are called Redmi K50 Ultra and the Pad 5 Pro 12.4.

Redmi K50 got a fresher appearance with a Blue, Black, and Silver rear design, but apart from that, there's also a Special Edition design called the "Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team Summer Edition". Which is basically based on the car racing team.

Now the smartphone boasts a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED screen with 2712 x 1220 resolution, 12-bit colors, Dolby Vision, DCI-P3, and HDR10+ support. The fingerprint reader on the screen is also capable of measuring heart rate which is a new thing for mobile phones

Inside, it has a 4nm 3.2GHz Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 octa-core processor with a new-gen Adreno GPU. They also paired the device with up 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Powering the phone will be a 5,000mAh battery which charges using USB-C and 120W power brick.

It bears a triple camera system with 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM6 for the primary sensor, followed by 8MP ultra-wide and another 2MP as a macro helper. For selfies, the phone uses 20MP.

Other features mentioned are the Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Music listeners might also want to look out for this as the USB-C and wireless output has Hi-Res audio capability.

For connectivity, it has WiFi 6E, 5G, 4G, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, and Dual-SIM (nano).

Up next, there's a new tablet called the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4. This new device boasts a 12.4-inch 2.5K display, 120Hz refresh rate, 120Hz touch sampling rate (240Hz on stylus), 8-bit panel, Dolby Vision, HDR10 support, and 500nits peak brightness.

Inside it still has the 7nm 3.2Ghz Snapdragon 870 with Adreno 650 GPU. It is also paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Its battery has a huge 10,000mAh size and can charge with USB-C and a 67W power adaptor.

For cameras, it has 50MP on the rear coupled with a 2MP depth shooter. While the front-facing camera uses a 20MP IMX596 sensor.

Other features mentioned would be the support for Displayport using the USB-C. Which means it can be connected to an external display. There's also an optional keyboard with a 64-key layout as well as an optional stylus for drawing or writing purposes.

The connectivity side only has WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and GPS. There's no cellular version which means the 5G from SD870 won't be used.

For the software, it runs Android 12 with MIUI 13 as well.

Both devices are now available for preorder on their China website. However, there's no info yet if it will come to the Philippines so stay tuned.
