Unboxing/Accessories
|
Look at this cool box! |
The ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate came with a very interesting and cool box. It is a 6-sided cardboard case that has a slide mechanism. You slide the box to reveal the smartphone, the compartment for the AeroActive Cooler 6, and another compartment for the charging brick and USB-C cable. |
It slides out and opens up! |
Overall, it is a cool unboxing experience but still straightforward. As mentioned earlier, it comes with a 65W wall charger, USB-C cable, SIM eject tool, and the AeroActive Cooler 6. There are no included earphones or cases included in the box though.
Build Quality/Design
|
Here's what you get inside the box! |
Just like past ROG Phones, the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate comes with a premium build and an eye-catching design. It is made out of metal and glass which gives it a substantial heft at 247 g. We did not find it uncomfortably heavy though. In fact, we found it more ergonomic especially when gaming.
It also has Corning Gorilla Glas Victus to protect the screen and boasts IPX4 water resistance as well. ASUS failed to use at least IP67 for water-resistance here. |
The ROG Phone 6D Ultimate has a metal and glass build |
ASUS added the new advanced GameCool 6 cooling system in the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate. It placed the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ in the center of the device to be cooled better. It comes with a 30 percent larger vapor chamber and an 85 percent graphite sheet as well as the aerospace great Boron Nitride thermal compound. Adding the AeroActive Cooler 6, the device remains cool even while gaming. |
It also comes with AeroActive Cooler 6 out of the box! |
The ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is available in Space Gray color with a matte finish. It is not slippery and has enough grip to be secure even when you need precise movements while gaming. It comes with a horizontal camera bump for the rear triple-camera setup. The back also comes with line accents to add more of the gamer aesthetic we expect from ROG. |
It also has a 2-inch matrix color OLED ROG Vision screen |
Another highlight is the 2-inch matrix color OLED ROG Vision screen that can display notification counts, custom animations, charging status, X-mode activation, and more. It is a great accent piece that adds more functionalities as well. Additionally, the AeroActive Cooler 6 adds more flare with its RGB lighting when connected. |
The 165Hz AMOLED screen is bright, responsive, and vibrant |
In front, it has a 6.78-inch Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protected Samsung E4 AMOLED screen w/ 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, FHD+ 2448 x 1080 resolution, Delta E <1 color accuracy, DC dimming, HDR10+ support, In-Display fingerprint sensor, and Samsung Eye Care.
It has slim bezels and a punch-hole cutout for quite an immersive gaming experience. It gets really bright which makes it very outdoors. |

The bottom of the device |
Of course, the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate comes with a blank top side while the first USB-C charging port is found at the bottom along with the 3.5mm headphone jack. |

The AirTrigger 6 shoulder buttons are responsive and very accessible when gaming. To add more controls, the AeroActive Cooler comes with 4 additional buttons.
Inside, it also has a total of 6,000mAh battery divided into two cells in total. This is to help charge faster as well as maintain good thermals.
The phone measures 173 x 77 x 10.4 mm. |
The triple-camera setup |
At the back, you get a triple-camera setup with 50MP f/1.9 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX766 + 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle + 5MP macro + LED flash. It also has a 12MP selfie camera.

1,090,530 points on AnTuTu! |
We managed to test the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate in a few benchmarks and real-life tests as well. It broke 1 million points in AnTuTu and was able to last 15 hours of continuous YouTube video on a single charge. It also performed well when we played a bit of COD: Mobile with no problems in terms of frame drops or lags.
Using the X-Mode did warm the phone a bit but paired with the AeroActiver Cooler 6, that was quickly remedied. It is a beast of a performer with an amazing high refresh rate screen and long battery life.
We will be fully testing it soon. It is promising so far. Stay tuned for our full review!
