Lower fees for Basic, Standard subscribers

In a statement, Netflix said that starting February 21, subscribers of the Basic Plan will now be paying PHP 249 monthly from PHP 369. Meanwhile, those under the Standard Plan will now have a monthly fee of PHP 399 from PHP 459.

Mobile Plan and Premium Plan will retain their monthly fees of PHP 149 and PHP 549, respectively.

New members who sign up will see the new price for the plans immediately starting February 21, 2023. The update will roll out to existing members over the coming weeks from their next billing cycle, the streaming platform said.

Netflix said existing users will be notified through email, as well as within the Netflix app 30 days before the new prices are applied to them. The exact timing will depend on the member's billing cycle.

Netflix continuously explores ways to enhance their member's experience, and is more committed than ever to deliver an experience that doesn’t just meet, but exceeds their expectations, the company said.

The announcement was also made through an ad that features several members of the Filipino girl group Sexbomb Girls, singing a version of their hit song "The Spaghetti Song."
