realme 10 Pro Unboxing, First Impressions and Camera Samples

We got an early look at the newly announced realme 10 Pro. These are our thoughts and first impressions.
realme 10 Pro

realme has unveiled the Pro variants of the realme 10 series. The base 10 Pro features a 120Hz 6.72-inch LCD screen. Inside is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G SoC, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W SUPERVOOC charging via USB.

At the back is a 108MP primary camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor while in front is a 16MP selfie camera.

As of this article's writing, the official price of the smartphone has yet to be announced. It will soon be available in the Philippines.

Let's dive in!

Build Quality/Design

For the materials used, the realme 10 Pro is made of a combination of high-quality polycarbonate and glass. In front is a glass panel while at the back is a glasstic panel. In between is a polycarbonate frame with a metal-like finish.

The front glass and rear glasstic panel have a glossy finish making both prone to fingerprint smudges out of the box. The glass feels more premium than the glasstic panel. The polycarbonate frame looks and feels close to metal.

Premium look!

It replicates the texture and solid feeling of metal but what gave it away is the temperature of the material when exposed to a cold environment. Metal usually feels cold to the touch after being placed beside the main vent of an air conditioning unit for an extended period. The realme's frame does not feel cold.

There is no mention of water and dust resistance rating but the SIM tray does feature a rubber gasket. The phone may come with a limited form of water resistance.

At first glance, the realme 10 Pro looks familiar but now features flat sides around the frame as opposed to a curved frame.

The colorway we received has a unique reflection when light hits it. It produces several rays of light that change color depending on the angle of the light when it hits the back.

There is no mention of whether the front glass panel is protected.

We recommend wearing the included case right away too.
Front screen
Front screen

In front is the 6.72-inch LCD screen with a 2400 x 1080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. On top is the punch hole while around it is a super slim top and side bezels. The chin bezel looks four times thicker than the other bezels.

Super-slim bezels!

Above the top bezel are the earpiece speaker grills on the polycarbonate frame.

On top of the phone is a single microphone while at the bottom are the speaker grill, USB-C port, microphone port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Left and right sides

On the left side of the phone is the SIM tray while on the right are the polycarbonate volume rocker and the power button. The power button doubles as the fingerprint scanner.

The volume rocker has an unsatisfying plastic-y feel when pressed.

The phone measures 163.7 x 74.2 x 8.1 mm and weighs 190 grams. It is lightweight but does feel somewhat solid enough.

For cameras, at the back is the 108MP f/1.75 primary camera and the 2MP f/2.4 portrait camera with an LED flash. On the punch hole in the front is the 16MP f/2.45 selfie camera.

The stock camera app comes with the following modes: Photo, Video, Street, Night, Portrait, 108M, Pro, Pano, Movie, Slo-Mo, Time-Lapse, Dual-View, Text Scanner, Group Portrait, and Tilt-Shift.

The Pro mode comes with controls for ISO (100-6400), Shutter Speed (1/8000-30 secs), EV (+-2), Focus, White Balance, and zoom (1x, 3x). The 3x zoom is digital where the app crops in to make it look like it is zoomed in.

The first shots from the rear camera are sharp and densely detailed with vibrant color and good contrast. The color however is more saturated than color accurate.

The selfie images have saturated color and deep contrast but the skin tones are not as accurate as we would like. The images could also be sharper.

These were shot with early hardware and software so these may not be a true representation of the final product.

We will do more testing for the review so stay tuned.

realme has made interesting choices for the new realme 10 Pro. The most obvious one is the rear dual camera module with a 108MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. There is no ultra-wide nor is there a macro.

The phone is surprisingly lightweight but is a solid feeling. The screen is bright, vibrant, and sharp with an eye-catching super slim top and side bezel even if the chin is a bit thick.

But let's not forget the internal specs. Inside is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G octa-core processor which has had a good track record ever since its initial release. It also has a large 5,000mAh battery with fast 33W SUPERVOOC charging.

As mentioned earlier, as of this article's writing, the phone's price has yet to be announced.

Depending on the price, the phone may be a compelling option.
