Officially opened earlier this week at the company’s Parking Basement 1, TMC said it is the first of its kind in a hospital setting. This particular TMC is the main branch located at Ortigas Ave, Pasig City, Metro Manila.

According to TMC, e-vehicle penetration in the local market has been rising as Filipino consumers become "more environmentally conscious."

It said electric vehicles offer numerous benefits, such as energy efficiency, lower maintenance costs, and affordability compared to fuel-powered vehicles.

To further pump up its adoption, the government moved to cut tariffs on electric vehicles and their parts.

This is part of our role as a healthcare institution as far as sustainability is concerned. We are increasingly focusing on how to get involved as an enterprise in environmental protection, societal behavior, as well as governance. Enabling an environment for these innovations to thrive is how change happens and we are proud that TMC is one to make this available to everybody, said Dr. Eugenio Jose F. Ramos, President and CEO, The Medical City.

In 2020, TMC also installed bicycle lanes in the parking facility to promote and encourage the use of pollution-free modes of transportation. Given this, the company was recognized for being a bike-friendly workplace.
