Super slim and tough: HUAWEI Mate X3 foldable will be available in the Philippines too

Alongside the P60 Pro, global technology leader HUAWEI told the press here in Shenzhen, China that the Mate X3 is coming to the Philippines as well.

To those who missed it, the HUAWEI Mate X3 is dubbed as the world's thinnest foldable smartphone boasting just 5.3 mm thickness when unfolded and 11.08 mm when folded. To put it into perspective, it is just a bit thicker than a regular smartphone when folded making it look like just a normal smartphone when folded.

It is also lightweight for a foldable smartphone weighing just 239 grams for the Leather version and 241 grams for the Collectors Edition made with glass.

HUAWEI also claimed that it has IPX8 water resistance, a quad-curve design, and durable (tough) yet lightweight materials. It uses carbon fiber, a new-gen multi-dimensional hinge design, and an ultra-slim Type-C component.

The company claims that this is 4x more impact resistant and the first to pass Switzerland's five-star SGS impact-resistance certification.

For the display, it has a large 7.85-inch foldable inner OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2496 x 2224 resolution as well as a 6.4-inch Kunlun Glass-protected LTPO OLED screen with 2504 x 1080 resolution. Both screens have the same 426 ppi. The company is calling this the "HUAWEI X-TRUE" tech.

Moreover, the HUAWEI Mate X3 is the first foldable smartphone to garner two TÜV Rheinland certifications (Color Accuracy & Precise Color Projection)⁠.

For the rest of the specs, you will find the 3.2GHz 4nm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G octa-core processor with New Adreno GPU, 12GB RAM, 512GB internal storage, and a 4,800mAh battery capacity with USB-C 66W SuperCharge and a 50W Wireless SuperCharge.

Despite its slim size, HUAWEI also managed to squeeze a pretty powerful back camera setup with XMAGE imaging tech featuring the 50MP f/1.8 Ultra Vision Camera with Phase and Contrast focus + 13MP f/2.2 Ultra-Wide Angle with 2.5cm macro + 12MP f/3.4 5x Periscope Telephoto Camera with OIS + LED flash. For selfies, it has an 8MP f/2.4 camera for both the inner and outer screens.

Outside of China, it has no satellite tech and it will run with EMUI 13.1 skin.

HUAWEI has yet to reveal when is the exact launch date for the Mate X3 together with its official local pricing. Just don't expect it to be cheap since it is an engineering marvel in person.
