Ookla: Internet speeds in PH almost steady in March

The country's internet speeds in March were almost unchanged from a month ago, data from Ookla showed.

Faster speeds last month

In its monthly report, Ookla said Mobile speeds went slightly up to 25.63 megabits per second (Mbps) in terms of download speeds, while its upload speeds averaged 6.38 Mbps in the period. On the mobile side, the Philippines gained one notch higher in the Speedtest Global Index ranking.

For Fixed Broadband, however, the country fell to the 41st spot with download and upload speeds averaging 90.57 Mbps and 89.46 Mbps, respectively. 

According to Ookla, Smart delivered the fastest speed in PH while Globe wins in consistency...

According to its report, Smart Communications "delivered the fastest median download speed" at 33.39 Mbps. Globe Telecom came second with 22.29 Mbps, followed by DITO Telecommunity at 18.63 Mbps. 

In terms of consistency, Globe defeated the other two telco players with a score of 83.4 percent, higher than Smart’s 81.5 percent and DITO Telecommunity’s 75.1 percent.
