Disney+ said in a statement that James Cameron’s "Avatar: The Way of Water" will be available on Disney+ starting June 7.

To recap, the so-called "masterpiece" debuted in theaters on December 16 and easily became the third highest-grossing film of all time worldwide with nearly USD 2.32 billion (around PHP 1.29 billion) at the box office.

This Avatar film was even nominated at the Academy Awards in various categories, including Best Picture

Through "Avatar: The Way of Water," James Cameron returns to the world of Pandora.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, "Avatar: The Way of Water" launches the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure, Disney+ said.

All of this against the backdrop of the breathtaking seascapes of Pandora, where audiences are introduced to new Na’vi cultures and a range of exotic sea creatures, it added.

"Avatar: The Way of Water" was produced by Cameron and his longtime partner Jon Landau, and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis and Kate Winslet. Also included in the cast are Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass and Jack Champion.

The screenplay was done by Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver. The three also worked on the story, along with Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno. David Valdes and Richard Baneham served as the film’s executive producers.
