The League of Legends: Wild Rift team of Sibol wins the gold medal match with a 3-1 score against Vietnam.
This marks the first esports gold medal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.
In a rematch of the upper bracket finals, Sibol initially took 2-0 over Vietnam after the team engagement didn't succeed, giving momentum to our Filipino delegates.
However, Sibol came impatient in game 3 resulting in punishment from their foes. When a skirmish happened at the elder Drake area, three Sibol members went down, allowing the Vietnamese to secure the game.
But in game 4, the PH representatives stayed to their objectives, split-push, and kills to beat the defending Champions Vietnam leading to a win and snatching the gold medal.
The members of the Sibol Wild Rift lineup are, Chammy "Chammy" Nazarea, Justine "Juschie" Tan, Aaron "Aaron" Bingay, Golden Hart "DemonKite" Dajao, and Reniel "Dr4w" Angara together with coach Van "Vansu" Alfonso.
Meanwhile, there will be more esports events coming into the SEA Games 2023 such as Valorant on May 8-10, Crossfire on May 8-9, and the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang on May 12-14.
Stay tuned as we will give more updates in the next coming days.
