Google I/O happened last night when they introduced several products including the firm's first Foldable device.
The Pixel Fold boasts a 7.6-inch outer OLED panel with a resolution of 1840 x 2208, 120Hz refresh rate, 1,450 peak brightness, Ultra Thin Glass with a protective plastic layer, and a 6:5 aspect ratio.
On the other hand, the outer display uses a 5.8-inch OLED with 2092 x 1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,550 nits max brightness.
The Pixel Fold sports a stainless steel hinge that is tough and can survive wear and tear such as scratches while maintaining its glossy finish.
When unfolded, users can utilize the Taskbar to easily switch between apps or drag compatible apps into split screen mode for multitasking.
You can also use tabletop mode to go hands-free, which is helpful for apps like YouTube. The top half of the screen displays your video, while an upcoming app update will add playback controls to the bottom half.
Moving to internals, the fold uses the 5nm 2.85GHz Google Tensor G2 processor with Mali G710 MP7 GPU and Titan M2 security, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB or 512GB UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,821mAh battery with 30W wired and wireless charging.
For cameras, the Pixel Fold uses 48MP 1/2" sensor with f/1.7 aperture, OIS, CLAF + 10.8MP 121.1 degrees ultra-wide snapper + 10.8MP telephoto camera with f/3.05 aperture, 5x optical zoom, 20x Super Res Zoom, LDAF sensor, and 4K video.
There are also two selfie cameras, you will find a 9.5MP shooter on the outer display while the inner display has an 8MP snapper.
Other features are a side-mounted fingerprint reader, water-resistant IPX8, and stereo speakers.
For connectivity, it has 5G SA/NSA, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 6E (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and NFC.
For software, the phone runs Android 13 Operating System.
Pixel Fold - USD 1,799 (around PHP 100K)
It is now available to order in the US region and will roll out soon. Those who will pre-order will also get a free Pixel Watch. Other markets mentioned are Germany, Japan, and UK. Apparently, there's no news for PH availability yet.
Stay tuned.
