The company said in a statement that over 44 million of its 66 million subscriber base already registered as of May 3.

This represents 67 percent of Smart and TNT’s subscribers and more than 80 percent of the wireless revenues of the PLDT Group, it added.

Citing latest data from the National Telecommunications Commission, Globe had registered 43.4 million subscribers or 50 percent of its 86.7 million total base, while DITO had registered 6.2 million subscribers or 41.9 percent of its declared 14.9 million total base, the company noted.

“We will continue to strengthen our SIM Registration initiatives by making sure our customers have the best, most convenient, and most rewarding experience when they register, that we remain accessible both online and on-site, especially in far-flung areas, and that we have compelling on-ground and above-the-line communications throughout this campaign,” said Francis E. Flores, SVP and Head of Consumer Business Group - Individual at Smart.

Flores said Smart continues to improve its online registration portal. The company is also looking to launch new online channels that customers can use to register.

The Smart executive also noted that the telco is continuously coordinating with local government units in the roll out thousands of SIM Registration booths across the country, assisting seniors, persons with disabilities and users of non-data phones.

Flores also highlighted Smart’s recent videos aiming to educate customers about the

consequences of failing to register their SIMs, which is deactivation of their number.

The SIM Registration Act requires all SIM owners to register their number.

From the original April 26 deadline, the government decided to extend this with additional 90 days.

Smart Prepaid and TNT customers can register their SIM at http://www.smart.com.ph/simreg or via the GigaLife App. Postpaid users, meanwhile, are considered registered using existing account details provided consistent with the SIM Registration Act.

Smart Bro subscribers can proceed with SIM Registration by accessing their one-time password at http://www.smart.com.ph/viewbroadbandsms.
