Sony WF-1000XM5 launched in PH: Smaller body, improved ANC, audio, and calls for PHP 16,999!

Sony has just launched the WF-1000XM5 with plenty of upgrades compared to its predecessor.

Smaller, lighter, but better!

The new Sony WF-1000XM5 boasts a new and improved glossy texture for a more luxurious feel while making the buds 25 percent smaller and 20 percent lighter than the WF-1000XM4 resulting in a more comfortable wearing experience. Even the charging case is now smaller as well.

The buds also have an ergonomic design with a more stable fit and Noise-Isolation Earbud Tips with polyurethane foam material designed to reduce noise in the high-frequency range. Sony claims that it is also soft and elastic with maximized contact area between the earbud tip and the ear canal.

The buds are protected with an IPX4 water splash resistant rating allowing its users to use the buds even while working out.

Inside, the buds use the new Dynamic Driver X for rich and more detailed vocals. It also has a diaphragm structure that combines different materials for the dome and edge for low distortion and clear sound quality.

Sony also added the new Integrated Processor V2 for 24-bit audio processing and high-performance analog amplification for low distortion and crystal-clear audio reproduction.

It also has Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity with support for LDAC with approximately 3x more data than conventional Bluetooth audio for Hi-Res Audio quality.

Moreover, it uses Edge-AI, DSEE Extreme upscales compressed digital music files in real-time.

It also has 360 Reality Audio with head tracking for a realistic listening experience by automatically adjusting sound fields to compensate for your head movement. The company claims that it aligns the sound with your smartphone screen even if you move.

For calls, it has Precise Voice Pickup Technology and an "advanced" audio signal processing with an AI-assisted noise reduction algorithm.

Sony also improved its noise-canceling tech by using the Noise-Canceling Processor QN2e. The company said that it has 20 percent better noise-canceling performance than its predecessor and has an updated AI Noise Reduction Algorithm.

The WF-1000XM5 now features three microphones on each earbud (a total of 6). It includes dual feedback mics designed to improve low-frequency cancellation performance.

It uses bone conduction sensors that pick up the vibration of your voice directly from your skull bones which helps in isolating speech from ambient sound and background noise for clear calls.

The rest of the specs

Other features of the buds include Adaptive Sound Control, Speak-to-Chat, and Multi-Point connection for two BT devices at the same time.

Sony claims that each bud can last up to 8 hours of battery life and up to 16 hours with the case. It also has Qi wireless charging support and could be charged on a smartphone with a battery share function.
