According to an Apple App Store listing, Meta's Twitter competitor Threads by Instagram is expected to launch on July 6, 2023.
Based on its description from the App Store, Threads is Instafram's text-based conversation app.
If you are living under a rock, Instagram is one of the social media apps of Meta. Meta is also the parent company of Facebook. The CEO is Mark Zuckerberg.
Its description added that "Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from topics you care about to what'll be trending tomorrow."
Moreover, it described that "Whatever it is you're interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world."
Meanwhile, The Verge reported that there is also a listing on Google Play Store showing that you will be able to log in with your Instagram handle to use Threads. Then, you may find the accounts you follow on Instagram on the new app and post in an interface that "looks like many other text-based social media apps."
Meta also shared that the app will integrate with the decentralized social media protocol ActivityPub.
The rest of the missing details about the new app will likely be revealed on the above-mentioned launch date.
