Xiaomi 14 launched: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, HyperOS, and triple 50MP Leica cameras!

Following the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Xiaomi 14 Series are the first phones to use it.

There are two devices in the series, but we will first talk about the base version known as the Xiaomi 14. It is a device with a compact body and kind of resembles its processor with minimal changes in the colors.

The display

At the front, it uses a 6.36-inch Huaxing C8 AMOLED screen. A panel made from Xiaomi and TCL's collaboration. It has a 1.5K resolution, 120H LTPO refresh rate, 3,000nits of max brightness and supports HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.

Inside, is the newly announced 4nm 3.7GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 octa-core processor with New Adreno. This chip has major improvements in terms of CPU, GPU, and AI prowess. The phone also boasts up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.

When it comes to battery, it has a 4,610mAh capacity that charges using USB-C 90W power brick, 50W wireless charging support, and 10W reverse wireless.

The Leica cameras!

Another highlight would be its Leica branded cameras. It features a 50MP Hunter 900 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP OIS telephoto shooter, and a 50MP ultra-wide angle sensor. Xiaomi claims this uses a Vario Summilux aspherical lens that can bring improved imaging versus last year's Summicron lens found on the Xiaomi 13 series. For selfies, the phone uses a 32MP shooter.

Other features noted are an In-Display fingerprint reader, IP68 rating, gas-liquid separation channel to manage the phone's thermals, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, X-Axis linear motor, and 4x microphone w/ 360-degree capture.

Connectivity-wise, it has 5G, 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, IR Blaster and NFC.

For software, it runs HyperOS based on Android 14. It comes with a much cleaner interface, a heavy focus on AI, small and lightweight firmware at 8.75GB, and promises cross-device collaboration.

Xiaomi 14 12GB/256GB CNY 4,299 (around 33.4K)

Xiaomi 14 16GB/512GB - CNY 4,599 (around PHP 35.7K) 

Xiaomi 14 16GB/1TB - CNY 4,999 (around PHP 38.8K)

It will be first available in China. However, Xiaomi hasn't mentioned a global release yet. We will update you once they make an announcement.
