The new Steam Deck OLED variant

Valve refresh Steam Deck with OLED and more!

Just as the name implies, the revamped handheld now features a bigger and smoother 90Hz 7.4-inch OLED panel instead of the LCD found in the first version. It also now comes with 1280 x800 resolution, supports HDR, and features 1,000 nits of max brightness so you can game under sunlight up to a certain degree. In addition, it has updated the touchscreen polling rate to 180Hz and improved latency and accuracy too.

Another highlight is that the new OLED version is 30 grams or 5 percent lighter than the LCD variant.

When it comes to internals, it is a smaller custom 6nm AMD APU of the original model however this will be more efficient in terms of power draw. Think of it like how Sony designed the slim versions of PS4 or PS5. It is then paired with 16GB RAM and choices of 512GB or 1TB storage.

Valve also added a bigger battery here with claims of 3 to 12 hours of gaming instead of 2 to 8 hours from the predecessor. The company says this translates to 30-50 percent battery performance improvement. The charging department is improved as well and the firm claims it can charge 20 to 80 percent in 45 minutes.

For thermals, the OLED variant comes with a bigger fan and updated thermals. Valve says, they increased thermodule thickness and performance to achieve a much cooler temperature.

Connectivity-wise, Steam Deck OLED will let you download faster with its WiFi 6E (2.4GHz/5GHz) connection.

For OS, it runs the Steam Deck OS with improved power management firmware, added preliminary support for open-source BIOS and EC firmware, and better resume time by 30 percent.

US Price with direct to PHP conversion (no taxes and duties yet):
