Proposed rules on the use of e-bikes

According to a PhilStar report, LTO chief Vigor Mendoza revealed the proposal during a forum last week. He said this would be submitted to the Department of Transportation.

For as long as these vehicles are used in public roads, they should be registered, Mendoza said.

Registering e-vehicles will help motorists road safety, the official noted.

Mendoza said unregistered e-bikes are only allowed within private roads or subdivisions. Those caught with unregistered vehicles or with expired vehicle registration will be fined PHP 10,000.

Minors should also not be allowed to drive EVs, he added.
