Biggest and 1st automated sorting facility in PH!

To start, the firm noted that the e-commerce industry is one of the main growth engines of the local digital economy. In order to meet the rising requirements of consumers, infrastructural upgrades are required, with the Philippines having one of SEA's fastest-growing e-commerce markets.

In accordance with SPX Express' unwavering resolve to bring more seamless and efficient delivery solutions, the firm has bolstered its local logistics landscape with its SOC 5 which opened last Q3 2023 located in Calamba Laguna.

So what is inside the SOC5?

First, you'll meet the inbound area where parcels coming from different stores will enter the automatic conveyor. The firm noted there are around 2,000 trucks that can be unloaded in a day.

After that, you will witness the physical sorting area, and the parcels will go through the advanced scanner which is capable of detecting the sizes of the latter and will be divided accordingly.

After which these parcels will go to the cross belt sorter also known as CBS where they will be put according to its designated distribution hubs.

Finally, these will proceed to the outbound area where parcels are loaded into trucks and then will be transported to their respective locations.

SPX Express mentioned the whole facility has 25,000 square meters of warehouse space and that the whole process of inbound to outbound only takes around 3 minutes for bulky parcels and then about an hour for sacks. 

With that, SPX Express can cater to more than 3 million parcels per day, making order fulfillment a more optimized process that enables even more efficient product delivery from sellers to buyers.

Furthermore, these automated processes enabled SPX to sort to 300 hubs nationwide. Meanwhile, the company says this brings a 60 percent improvement in lead time (reduced by 2 hours) and efficiency if compared to the manual process.
