3 major brands reportedly halted foldable projects!

Rumors circulate that the foldable phone market, once considered to be the next big thing in smartphones, may be encountering some unanticipated roadblocks. Based on tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS), at least three major smartphone makers have paused or considerably delayed their foldable phone efforts.

DCS pointed out that one of the top five smartphone makers has already fully suspended its development of foldable devices. Plus, two more firms have already halted the making of the flip-style fold phone.

However, the reasons for this suspension are still not yet disclosed. While the leaker never specified the particular brands involved.

Right now, the said foldable industry is being ruled by Android phone makers. Samsung as an example is currently the top 1 in terms of market share and is reportedly in the works of its next-generation Galaxy Z devices and even a triple folding variant.

HUAWEI also is working with similar triple folding screens while OPPO and vivo are other makers who have released their own version of foldable phones.

In a related story, there's a report that suggests OPPO and vivo have decided to go out on the foldable market.  And it's reportedly due to a considerable decrease in market share in this category last 2023. However, these reports still need to be officially confirmed by the brand themselves so it's best to wait for that official statement to better comprehend the situation.

In another story, Apple's foldable iPhone concept is also rumored to be facing roadblocks due to fragile screen situations.

Again these are just leaks only. The phones in the image above are just "key visuals only" and do not represent the actual brand involved in the leak of Digital Chat Station.
